This morning, like many other mornings, I was busting out another Brymlea Smyth programmed WOD at my gym.
And like most mornings, I’m panting and sweating with my brothers and sisters at the Chase. Just getting it done. And as usual coach is encouraging, cajoling, and dishing it out.
But this morning was different. As I looked around, I had a moment. I realized how much I love this thing we do together.
And I realized how important and inspiring these folks are to me. I love their commitment. I love their resilience. And I love their sheer determination.
And I love how it feels to be around them. Respect!
It’s not often that I’ve had moments like this. But it’s in these moments – present, and aware – that some cool mind shit happens. And I’m greatful for it.
What has this got to do with riding motorcycles? Hmmm not a lot really, except that once or twice when riding my moto I’ve had that moment. And now that I recognize what a moment is like, I’m looking for more.
The path to these moments is something you have to work out for yourself. I think it might have something to do with being around long enough to figure out what you love to do, and then just keep doing it.
Life is short. Get off your arse.
Ramble over. MJM
